With today’s consumers and businesses expectations of
fault-free operation and uninterrupted service, tests must be
devised in order to guarantee performance during and after exposure
to environmental and mechanical stress. Reliability and qualification
tests are designed to assess the basic design of the device
as well as the fabrication methods and materials used. The ability
to pass these tests is an indicator that the device will be
robust enough to provide long-term reliability, in addition
to aid in determining its’ limits for safe and proper
operation.
Reliability/qualification tests should be performed whenever
a new package is being introduced or as a package is undergoing
a redesign that has required material changes, such as a change
in molding compound, die attach adhesive, or perhaps die passivation.
Testing should also be done when there have been mechanical
changes such as a change in die size or a change in leadframe
dimensions.
Silicon Cert has the expertise, experience, and facilities
to conduct a wide range of reliability/qualification tests.
